Today we get the first look at what I believe will be the new summer seasonal coming from our friends at Lion Brewery….High Dive -- malt beverage brewed with sweet orange peel, curacao bitter orange peel and coriander. The new brew will come in at 5% ABV and this is the 12oz bottle package. Stay tuned for release details.
We brought you the new bottle and some of the highlights from the Miller Coors Distributors Convention today…and now a little more insight from AdAge on the strategy moving forward for Miller Lite:
The brewer is rolling out a plethora of Miller Lite ads starring celebrities and a major movie tie-in as the brand seeks a comeback with its "Miller Time" campaign and new packaging. But Lite is taking a more measured approach with its celebs compared with other big beverage brands, which have tapped A-listers while giving them marketing titles, such as "creative director." For instance, Bud Light Platinum recently made Mr. Timberlake its "creative, cultural and music curator," while Diet Coke has made Taylor Swift a "program ambassador."
Lite is using celebs that might not be as well-known as Mr. Timberlake or Ms. Swift, but have what execs described as common-man cachet. And the brand is weaving in multiple celebs, rather than casting its lot with a single star. "Celebrities are challenging because the bigger the celebrity, the more it runs the risk of overshadowing what it is you are trying to do. It becomes an ad for the celebrity vs. an ad for your brand," Exec VP-Chief Marketing Officer Andy England told Ad Age, while previewing the brewer's 2013 marketing plans.
One Miller Lite ad envisions what it would be like to hang out with actor Ken Jeong, who will star in the upcoming "Hangover Part III" movie. In one bar scene in the ad, he self-mockingly says, "I'm that guy from that thing." Similar ads will show male drinkers hanging with mixed martial arts legend Chuck Liddell and music star Questlove. The spots are by Miller Lite lead agency Saatchi & Saatchi.
Two new cool labels coming out of our very own Lion Brewery in the past. Today we have Elm City Blackwell Stout & Golden Ale 12oz bottles. Elm City was out of New Haven CT.
I’ve been getting lots of questions about what’s going on at Lion Brewery, so I thought I’d bring you some news. Yes Stegmaier Porter has returned after a hiatus and it was brewed just last weekend. here’s a peek at the keg label approved today for Stegmaier Porter (as well as Winter Warmer and several other Stegmaier Seasonal). No word yet on whether Porter will just be a seasonal brew but I’d say it looks likely. Also today we have an interesting new keg label for Lionshead IPA. Based purely on the 6.8% ABV I’d say this is a close-brother to Stegmaier IPA.
Here’s a new one coming out of our very own Lion Brewery for Hudepohl Classic Porter. This beer is licensed by Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing Co in Cincinnati, OH.
There are about 6 different labels that I’ve seen, and yes this was a 1990’s Lion Brewery contract for “Wanker Light”…and no the web site doesn’t seem to exist anymore…sorry guys.
Here’s a new brew coming from Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing via our very own Lion Brewery. Today we have the 12oz bottle label for Hudepohl Libation Porter. To further confuse, this is licensed to Christian Moerlein Cincinnati.
Here’s a peek at the new 12oz bottle label fro Stegmaier Porter. This classic Stegmaier offering comes in at 5.6% ABV and no before you ask there is no reason to think there is a recipe change…just a new package.
Here’s are the updated labels for Lancaster Brewing Strawberry Wheat & Oktoberfest. They’re both 12oz bottles and they’re brewed @ our very own Lion Brewery!
Five NEW Lion Brewery / Pocono Brewing beers coming out today in keg-only packaging and with some pretty interesting names: Old Bastard Ale, Other Woman IPA, Ball & Chain Lager, Sugar Daddy Lager & Pumpkin Ale. These do sound suspiciously like similar Stegmaier/Lion Brewery beers so it should be interesting to see where these end up being sold.
I have nothing to do with THIS eBay auction, but I thought you’d all want to see a piece of our local Stegmaier brewing history on display (and auction). This isn’t a full barrel, at appears to be about 2-feet tall so I’d suspect it’s a serving barrel (aka Firkin.) In any case it’s real interesting to see something like this show up.
I always like showing off some of the great brews coming out of our very own Lion Brewery…and today we have Christian Moerlein Exposition Vienna Style Lager. It will be packaged in 12oz bottles, use noble hops and come in at 4.7% ABV.
Here’s your first look at what I believe will be the new Lion BreweryStegmaier summer seasonal….Summer Pils German-Style. It’s a 12oz bottle and 5.1% ABV…and based purely on the style and ABV this appears to be a re-labeled version of Summer Stock Pils.
I’ve been hearing rumors of this beer for months so it’s exciting to finally see the label. Today we have Stegmaier Honeysuckle Ale or is it “Honey Suckle Ale?” This new malt beverage brewed with honey & spices appears to be the new Stegmaier spring seasonal we’ve been waiting to hear about.. From what I’m hearing, this beer is brewed with orange blossom honey, orange peel, lemon zest, and coriander so it should be interesting.
With Friday on the horizon, what would Thursday be with out a good Boner Beach Wheat? Coming out of Lion Brewery we brought you their Sun Kissed Wheat and even the funny news of their lawsuits…but here they are again today with Boner Beer Belgian-Style Beach Wheat. Despite this looking like a can label, it does appear to be a 12oz bottle…and it of course has a “touch” of coconut.
Nope, for those wondering in Chippewa WI, JLBC stands for Jersey Lager Brewing Co and here’s a blast form the past with One-Eyed Jack, the original Alcohol Lemon Brew. 12oz bottles and yes they were brewed at our very own Lion Brewery.
It’s been a while since we’ve added some new OLD labels from Lion Brewery. Up today we have Kobor & While Brewing Downtown Medium brewed Brown Ale (12oz bottles)
